1  Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest Description

Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. 2. Madonna University sponsors a Scholarship Essay Writing Day: an invitation for your freshmen and sophomore students to participate in our annual Scholarship Essay Writing Day on Saturday, March 29th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please see below for an overview of this free program!

Program Overview: This event will begin with a presentation by Dr. Connie Tingson-Gatuz, Vice President for Student Affairs and an accomplished national scholarship reader.  Students will learn about the general scholarship selection process and engage in brainstorming exercises to help them prepare for scholarship essay writing.  The afternoon session will focus on writing competencies, and students will be invited to brainstorm, develop, and draft scholarship essays with the guidance of Dr. Ann Russell, Chair of Writing Programs, Frances FitzGerald, Writing Center Coordinator, and our Writing Center student tutors.  The Essay Day will conclude with an optional financial literacy presentation for parents and guests facilitated by Financial Aid Officer Tom Laabs.

Eligible students (high school freshmen and sophomores) must complete an application in order to participate in the program.  Applications will be accepted until capacity is reached, but priority consideration will be given to students who submit their application and recommendation forms by Friday, March 7th. Lunch will be provided.
Applications/Teacher Recommendations may be submitted in one of the following ways:

2.      Printing and completing the attached PDF form followed by sending a scanned copy back to Amanda Straub at amstraub@madonna.edu
